The Unusual Business Strategy

Hey! So today I'm gonna talk about a story that I came to mind when chatting with one of my friends. When I first read it as a child, I didn't understand it.

The story unfolds in a village situated between a forest and river. The main characters are a couple who have aged over time but not in their affection for each other. They possessed enough wealth to support ten families, but lacked an heir to inherit their fortune. Desiring a daughter who will provide care for them and effectively manage their farmlands, the couple seeks to adopt.

So one day, disguised as vendors the couple embarked a unusual business trade, exchanging mangoes for garbage rather than taking money. Adding to this... Not all but only young women were permitted to engage in this barter system. So, as word spread through the village, all young ladies eagerly participated in the exchange. There were also people mocking the old couple. But the couple continued selling fruits.

While passing a street one day, they encountered a girl standing by her house door. She was lost in her thoughts and seemingly hesitating over something. The couple also observed that she and no woman from her household took part in the exchange. Curious, they went over to inquire why she hadn't seized the opportunity to trade fruits for garbage. When the couple heard her response, the couple was shocked...yeah the girl rocked, the couple shocked!!

The young girl said that she never leaves her house untidy; she cleans the house 4-5 times a day and never allows garbage to accumulate at home. The shocked couple regained their senses and asked about her family conditions. She replied that she has a younger brother to take care of, and her parents have been deceased for a long time.

The couple beamed with joy and asked her if they could adopt her and her brother, revealing their situation. The young girl accepted their offer happily.

So...this is the story. I now understand why they chose her and the reason behind the couple's unusual trade strategy. They felt that only a daughter who could keep the house clean could be pure from heart and wouldn't covet their fortune. And they chose her for the same, as well as  for her meticulous care of her brother.

I hope my mom doesn't see this blog. Because, once she sees this, I'm sure this will be dialogue "If you were half good as her....ch...ch". I'm not someone who keeps my place clean. But I really want to change this side of mine... Let's think about this in the future... byee
