An unproductive day?

Today was an unproductive day?   Nah...I woke up from my three hours sleep at 7:30am. I had my ICA2 presentation at 9:00am. So I rushed through my notes for the presentation and hurried to get ready. In the hurry, as usual I skipped my breakfast and rushed to the department. I reached there around 8:50am. My classmate, Alena was way ahead waiting there before me. At 9:11, our presentations started. So Alena went first. She talked about a poem of Henry Howard " The Things That Cause a Quiet Life". She presented the poem in a unique way, she made the whole poem into a potion called "the healthy life potion". I,who went next, presented on the topic "Whirlwind of Romance and Eternal Vows: Prothalamion". Once I got done there, I went to my hall day tamil skit practice which lasted until 1:00 pm. Later I went to buy saplings in West Tambaram and returned at 1:45 pm. Then I tagged along with my roomie searching for one of our professors. Still we couldn't fi...

Mirror or River

What's your choice???    So this blog recounts a small talk among my hallmates during our hall day practice, centering over this particular question, " What holds more sway, one's inner beauty or appearance?" Sowmiya expressed her stance suggesting that men, in particular prioritise women's appearance over their inner beauty. She says, "Women tend to prioritise character and personality. They will never go for looks. Women say, 'I'm attracted towards his character and personality". But men love women just because they are women. Even if they approch "the not so good looking ones", they find something that's beautiful in them, rather than talk about her character. They'll say, 'Her eyes are beautiful'....or 'Her hair is long and lovely'." Celsiya says, "Regardless of anything, people are attracted to one's looks  and outfit, as at that moment, they are static. No one can determine if someone is a goo...

The Heir 1

Image
Hey peeps! I'm going to  talk about the current book I'm reading. The book's title goes as "The Heir" written by Kiera Cass. This book is the fourth book in her "The Selection Series". The protagonist of this book is Eadlyn Schreave, who is the first born princess of the royal family of IllĂ©a, born to King Maxon Schreave and Queen America Schreave. She has a twin brother named Ahren Schreave and a 14 year old brother named Kaden Schreave. The plot begins with Eadlyn being forced to undergo "the Selection", where she'll select her partner, who'll sit by her side when she takes up the throne. Yeah...in this story the first born inherits the throne by birthright. Even though she doesn't want the throne she still has to take it up because Ahren will be marrying the next queen of France, Camellia, and while the other is too young. The Selection process consists of her meeting the candidates, hosting tea parties, and spending time with t...

The Unusual Business Strategy

Hey! So today I'm gonna talk about a story that I came to mind when chatting with one of my friends. When I first read it as a child, I didn't understand it. The story unfolds in a village situated between a forest and river. The main characters are a couple who have aged over time but not in their affection for each other. They possessed enough wealth to support ten families, but lacked an heir to inherit their fortune. Desiring a daughter who will provide care for them and effectively manage their farmlands, the couple seeks to adopt. So one day, disguised as vendors the couple embarked a unusual business trade, exchanging mangoes for garbage rather than taking money. Adding to this... Not all but only young women were permitted to engage in this barter system. So, as word spread through the village, all young ladies eagerly participated in the exchange. There were also people mocking the old couple. But the couple continued selling fruits. While passing a street one day, th...

Trichy tales: Tanjai Periya Kovil

Image
T oday, I'm going to talk about my three days trip to Trichy where I really lost my cool. I experienced some challenges during my stay there, especially with the intense heat that nearly left me half cooked. I went there for my first ever State Championship with a team of 12. Despite the trip being for a competition, I felt it was more like a tour since my family accompanied me. My mom took on the role of acting team manager, my sister joined me as a teammate, and even my brother assisted my mom.How great it is! Let me tell you guys...   the highlight of the trip wasn't us winning the Championship but the visit to the Tanjai Periya Kovil also called the Brihadiswar temple. It is listed as a part of UNESCO World Heritage site.We went there on the third day of the Championship and despite the scorching sun, which showed us no mercy, the one-hour drive from the match grounds was worthwhile. My feet felt like they were almost burnt during the walk around the temple, but the...

A line between persuasion and deception: Ads

T he inaugural blog I write focuses on the discussion we had in one of my classes about advertisements, which spans from advertorial to television ads to e-marketing. This discussion has exposed me to the darker side of the business world. One of my classmates,Kavin, expressed the opinion that the contemporary advertisements lack in providing the accurate information regarding the quality and contents of the products and it leads people astray by promoting a certain trend. Vasanth, another classmate, mentioned that advertisements particularly in the comestics and fashion industry  targets women, shielding them from the reality of life's problems and situations.  Ilfa and Shauna talked about ads that  frequently promote unrealistic beauty standards particularly among young people, the face symmetry trend that still continues for the past two years. This pushes people to care about their personal beauty rather than facing the serious situations. This brings to mind a...
