Sharing Joy

Image
Guys!!! My mom sent me mangoes from home. As I received the parcel, the rich aroma melted not only me but also the delivery guy. I excitedly brought it to my room and upon opening the box...AHHH! I shared some with my roomies and saved some for myself and a stupid friend of mine. The mangoes my mom sent today  So to cherish this moment, I'll be reminiscing about the summer holidays and the mangoes. I remember the excitement in the air as we, from five year old brats to fifty year old, gathered in the living room of my grandparents' home, our eyes alight with anticipation. The mangoes, plump and fragrant, were carefully sliced open, revealing their vibrant orange flesh. The sweet aroma filled the room, making our mouths water in anticipation.  Sitting in the living room, we each took a slice of mango, the juice dripping down our fingers as we savored the sweet, tropical flavor. There was laughter and chatter as we shared stories and jokes, the joy of the moment binding us ...

Tomorrow and tomorrow and....

Image
Procrastination has been my constant companion for as long as I can remember. It's like a sneaky thief that steals away my time, leaving me with regret and frustration. Every time I have an important task to do, procrastination creeps in, whispering sweet promises of tomorrow. And so, I find myself putting things off until the last possible moment, only to scramble in a frenzy to get them done. When I wake up in the morning, my intentions are pure. I tell myself, "Today, I will be productive. I will tackle that assignment, finish that project, or clean that room." But as the day progresses, distractions beckon like sirens, leading me away from my goals. Suddenly, checking social media or watching just one more episode becomes more appealing than facing the daunting task at hand. It's not that I enjoy procrastinating; in fact, it fills me with guilt and anxiety. The weight of unfinished tasks hangs over me like a dark cloud, casting a shadow on my happiness. Yet, desp...

The Scoops

Image
There's something about the mere thought of ice cream that instantly brings a smile to my face. The craving for ice cream is not just about satisfying my hunger; it's about indulging in a moment of pure bliss and delight. Whenever the craving strikes, it's like my taste buds come alive, eagerly anticipating the creamy sweetness that awaits. Whether it's a classic scoop of vanilla, a decadent swirl of chocolate fudge, or a refreshing sorbet bursting with fruity flavors, the possibilities are endless and equally enticing. Indulging in ice cream isn't just about fulfilling a physical need; it's a sensory experience that engages all my senses. The sight of a perfectly scooped cone, the sound of the ice cream truck's jingle in the distance, the feel of the cold treat melting on my tongue, and, of course, the unforgettable taste that leaves me craving for more. But beyond the sensory pleasures, there's something deeply comforting about ice cream. It's like...

Teenage is Fun? No

Image
The teenage years are a time when we face immense change and growth, both physically and emotionally (well am at the last teen of my life). Amidst the ups and downs of adolescence, mental health becomes a crucial aspect of a our well-being. However, navigating the complexities of mental health during this stage of life can be challenging. Firstly, we often face a myriad of pressures from various sources. Academic expectations, social relationships, family dynamics, and societal influences can all contribute to stress and anxiety. The pressure to excel in school, fit in with peers, and meet familial expectations can weigh heavily on us, leading to feelings of inadequacy and overwhelm. Moreover, the hormonal changes that accompany puberty can exacerbate emotional volatility and mood swings. We may experience intense feelings of sadness, anger, or frustration, which can be difficult to manage. It's essential for us to recognize that these emotions are normal and part of the developme...

Escapism at the Exam Season

Image
Have you ever, as a student, tried seeking temporary escape from the scary books and exams? I did, I do even now during my End of Semester exams! When it's exam time, it's like entering a whole new world. Suddenly, the pressure is on, and every minute counts. But for many students like me, facing exams can be overwhelming. That's when escapism becomes a tempting retreat. Firstly, there's the allure of procrastination. Instead of hitting the books, I find myself drawn to anything and everything that offers a distraction – whether it's scrolling through social media, binge-watching my favorite TV shows, or getting lost in the world of comics. It's as if I'm trying to avoid the reality of the looming exams by immersing myself in something more immediately gratifying. Then, there's the temptation to daydream. As I sit on my bed, staring blankly at my notes, my mind begins to wander. I imagine myself anywhere but here – on a tropical beach, exploring a far-of...

Beyond the World

Image
Hey! Today I will be sharing my awe for the beyond the World Wonder! As I gaze up at the night sky, I am filled with awe and wonder at the vastness of the universe. Each twinkling star seems to hold a secret, beckoning me to explore its mysteries. From the tiny specks of light to the grandeur of distant galaxies, I am humbled by the sheer scale of it all. Since I was a child, I've been fascinated by space. The thought of what lies beyond our planet's atmosphere fills me with excitement and curiosity. I've spent countless nights staring up at the stars, dreaming of the adventures that await among them. I've been eager to learn more about the wonders of the cosmos. From the birth of stars to the possibility of other life forms, each discovery fills me with a sense of wonder and amazement. One of the most incredible things about space is its sheer diversity. There are planets made of ice, moons with oceans beneath their surfaces, and clouds of gas that stretch for millions...

Affirmations! A support

Image
Affirmation! This term was brought to me by my mom. Every time I do something important I'll be instructed by my mom to say myself, "I'm the winner", "It's my day" twenty to thirty times, so that my subconscious mind prepares itself for what I am gonna do that day. And today I'm going talk about this today! In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. With endless to-do lists, deadlines, and responsibilities, it's no wonder that many people struggle to maintain a positive mindset. However, one powerful tool that can help combat negativity and cultivate a more optimistic outlook is the practice of positive affirmations. Positive affirmations are simple, yet effective. They are statements that are repeated to oneself in order to challenge and overcome self-sabotaging and negative thoughts. By consistently practicing positive affirmations, individuals can reprogram their subconscious min...

My day today

Image
Accompanying my friend, Lav to the library to gear up for the semester exams felt like the right start to the day. We gathered our books and notes, ready to conquer the daunting task ahead. There's something about the quiet ambiance of the library that breeds focus and determination. With each page turned and each concept understood, we were one step closer to our academic goals. After a productive morning of studying, a friend of mine treated me to lunch. It was her birthday today. As we sat down to enjoy our meal, we laughed and shared stories, temporarily forgetting about the impending exams. It reminded me of the importance of taking breaks and cherishing the moments spent with friends.  The afternoon took a bittersweet turn as me and Lav embarked on the task of buying gifts for a senior's farewell. It was a reminder of the transient nature of time and the inevitability of goodbyes. We left the shop, and on the way back, she bought me unripe mango, which is my favorite summ...

Not Just A Day!

Image
It's WORLD EARTH DAY today!!! Earth Day is not just another day on the calendar; it's a reminder of our responsibility to protect the environment. And this year the theme is revealed to be PLANET VS PLASTIC! When I think about Earth Day, I'm reminded of the beauty and diversity of our planet. From the majestic mountains to the vast oceans, Earth is home to countless species, including humans. It's our duty to ensure that this beauty remains intact for generations to come. One of the key aspects of Earth Day is raising awareness about environmental issues. Whether it's pollution, deforestation, or climate change, there are numerous threats facing our planet. There are several talks and debates over the climate change with researchers and meteorologists finding solution to the adversity. Through education and advocacy, we can inspire others to take action and make a positive difference. I was once the President of the National Green Corps at my school, having the opp...

Sky and Fly

Image
Did you guys also yearned to fly in the sky like a bird?            As a child, I remember gazing up at the endless expanse of the sky, watching in wonder as airplanes and birds soared gracefully overhead. Each time one passed, my heart would fill with a longing, a burning desire to join them, to fly among the clouds and touch the stars. It was a dream shared by many of my friends, a dream that seemed impossible yet filled us with an unshakeable hope.              In those innocent days of youth, the concept of flight held a magical allure. I would spread my arms wide, pretending to glide effortlessly through the air, imagining the sensation of weightlessness and freedom. I still remember flying in with my dad holding me in the gliding me. But even as I reveled in these fantasies, a nagging voice in the back of my mind reminded me of the harsh truth: humans were not meant to fly (without the help of technology). ...

Stupid Dreams

Image
What do you guys dream about?                   Dreams are like a secret world that we enter every night when we close our eyes. Some are strange, some are beautiful, and some are just plain silly. Throughout my life, I've had my fair share of dreams – from flying through the sky like a superhero to being chased by giant talking vegetables. It's funny how our minds can come up with such bizarre scenarios when we're fast asleep.                   One thing I've realized is that dreams don't always make sense. In fact, most of them are downright illogical. I mean, why would I dream about riding a bulldozer through a sea? It's completely absurd! But that's the beauty of dreams – they defy logic and let our imagination run wild.                  And let's not forget about the dreams where I'm back in high school, taking a test that I haven't studi...

Jokes

Image
I'm sharing my memories with my favourite snack when I was a kid.  As I stroll through the corridors of memory, I'm transported back to the cherished evenings of my childhood, where buying my favourite snack wasn't just fun, but a part of a heartwarming tradition shared among my family at the friendly neighborhood store. It was a time of laughter, gossip, and bonding, etched in my mind like the sweetest melody. After my tuition ends, it was time for our family outing to the store. Sometimes it was Mom, other times Dad, and occasionally Grandma, each taking their turn to accompany me on this delightful excursion. Regardless of who was by my side, the anticipation was always palpable, as we shared stories and jokes on the way. It was like a reward for my progress that I made that day.  I can still recall the excitement that bubbled up inside me as we approached the store, the anticipation of choosing my favorite flavor almost too much to bear. With each step, my anticipation ...

Whispers of Her

Image
Today I'm sharing you guys a poem that I wrote for the Barnes hall magazine Elysian. It is named ", Whispers of Her".              As I sat down to pen these lines, a whirlwind of emotions engulfed me. The words flow from within, each syllable a reflection of my innermost thoughts and desires. This poem, "Whispers of Her," is not just a composition of verses; it is a journey through the depths of my soul, a testament to the struggles and aspirations of countless women.           The speaker of this poem is a unborn girl in her mother's womb, who is scared of facing the world. She put forwards her thoughts to her sister. As a woman destined to be born into a world that often dictates our fate before we even draw our first breath, she grapple with the weight of uncertainty. Will she be relegated to the sidelines, confined to the roles predetermined by others, or will she carve her own pat...

The Seasonal feast

Image
As the scorching sun bathes Tamil Nadu in its golden light, my eagerly anticipating summer has arrived – not for the heat it brings, but for the abundance of flavors that accompany it. Among the myriad delights that define Tamil Nadu's summer, the famous mangoes from Salem, the ice apples, tender coconut, sweet sweet watermelons, pearl millet porridge (kammang kool) and ice creams stand out as symbols of indulgence and joy. As a child, I would eagerly await the first batch of ripe mangoes, their golden hues signaling the start of a season filled with culinary delights. Each bite of a ripe mango would send waves of pleasure coursing through my taste buds, leaving me longing for more.  From the luscious Alphonso to the fragrant Banganapalli, Salem's orchards offer a diverse array of mangoes to tantalize the taste buds (I should boast about my city!). Whether enjoyed fresh or transformed into delectable desserts like mango lassi or mango sorbet...

Evening delights

Image
Spending time with friends is always enjoyable, especially when you share a special bond with your roommate. Today, my roommate and I decided to go out, starting at 5:00 pm. Our plan was to visit a store that buys old newspapers for cash, then head to the supermarket to pick up some snacks.                  The clock struck 4:00 pm, and we set out. As we walked to the store, we chatted about our day and met few friends on the way. The store that buys old newspapers was not too far from our college, so we reached there in no time. We carried a bag filled with old newspapers that was collected over the past few weeks.                 Upon entering the store, we were greeted by a friendly cashier. We weighed the bag of newspapers which was around  5kg, and the cashier offered us cash in return. It felt good to declutter our room while also earnin...

Broke and hope

Image
Have you ever been there, guys? That moment in the middle of the month when you check your bank balance and all you see is a measly 5 rupees and 16 paise staring back at you? It's like a punch in the gut, isn't it? You can almost hear the sound of your heart shattering into a million pieces. (Does that sound too cheesy? Maybe a bit, but hey, it's real!)                That's where I found myself today, with just 5 rupees and 16 paise to my name!  As for that pesky 16 paise, well, who knows where it came from or what it's good for. But hey, every little bit counts, right? Maybe I can use it to buy a piece of candy or put it towards my next glass of juice (only if lived in the last century).                Nevertheless, it feels like a cruel joke, as I look into my account, a reminder that even in the most seemingly secure environments, financial ins...

Inside My Cravings!

Image
Hey there!                As a woman, I've come to accept that my body operates on its own unique rhythm, a monthly cycle that brings with it a range of physical and emotional changes. One aspect of this cycle that has always fascinated me is the way my cravings seem to shift and change in tune with my menstrual cycle.               During the days leading up to my period, I often find myself drawn to certain foods – salty snacks, sweet treats, and rich, indulgent foods that I might not normally crave. It's as if my body is sending me signals, urging me to indulge in these comfort foods to help ease the discomfort and fatigue that often accompany menstruation.            One of the most common cravings I experience during this time is for chocolate. There's something about the rich, creamy texture and decadent flavor of chocolate that seems to soothe my soul during those...

The Identity Crisis: WHO AM I?

Image
Hey!           Growing up, my name has always been a significant part of my identity. It's the first thing people learn about me, and it holds deep meaning for my family and me. However, throughout my life, I've experienced the frustration and disappointment of hearing my name mispronounced time and time again.           When someone mispronounces my name, it feels like they're erasing a part of who I am. It's not just a simple mistake; it's a constant reminder of not being seen or heard for who I truly am. Correcting others becomes a routine, but it often feels like an uphill battle, with my efforts to assert my identity met with indifference or even resistance.            I vividly recall a significant moment from my past. It was the day I received my grade 3 topper certificate and shield. While basking in the honor, a senior approached to verify my spelling and pronunciation. However, upon seeing the cert...

Yet another productive day @Miller Memorial Library

Image
Hey there! Today turned out to be unexpectedly productive, despite starting off with a lazy morning in bed until 1:30 pm. I confess, I skipped my classes and indulged in some serious sleep, but the day took a turn for the better when my sweet akka, that is my roomie, suggested a trip to the library.       Now, for those who know me well, this sudden burst of activity might seem out of character. After all, my usual routine consists of alternating between sleeping, attending classes, and eating. But sometimes, even the laziest of us need a change of scenery. I accompanied my roomie as we embarked on our grand adventure to the Miller Memorial Library.  My Akka studying seriously!       It was a spontaneous decision, born out of sheer laziness (mostly on my part), but I was determined to break the cycle of lethargy and make the most of the day. My roomie and I each brought our chosen companions for the day – "A Passage to India" by E.M. Forster for ...

Tech gap realities

Image
Hey! Today I'm sharing something which really questioned the growth of technology.            Growing up in the city, technology has always been a big part of my life. From smartphones to high-speed internet, I've had access to it all. But as I've grown older, I've realized that not everyone has the same access to technology, especially people living in rural areas and senior citizens.          When I visit rural areas, I notice that things are different. Internet connection is slow, and sometimes it's hard to get a signal at all. People don't use smartphones as much, and some businesses don't even accept digital payments. It's like stepping back in time compared to the tech-savvy city life I'm used to.           I've also seen how technology can be a challenge for senior citizens, not only in rural areas but also in Metropolitan cities like Chennai. Once during ...

Red hands? Not blood pal!

Image
Hey! Have you guys ever got your hands coloured in red with Henna?           I still have the vivid memories of eagerly anticipating the time when my mom and grandma pick leaves, meticulously wash them, and skillfully transform them into a soothing paste. It was something I cherished, waiting in anticipation to adorn my small hands (which is still small lol), especially during the summer, which I would flex them with my neighborhood friends. Though time has passed but the warmth of those memories remains ever-present.          Time runs faster that I could barely hold onto the memories. The number of times me putting it on have been greatly reduced as I grew up. I don't know whether it is because of the school imposing fine, or my friends found it old fashioned, or  no one free to help me put them.         Only in the last two years have I started applying them myself, using a ba...

Movie that made me question my future

Image
Hey! Today I'm gonna be sharing my views on a movie that I watched last night. It's titled "12th Fail" which is based on a 2019 book of the same name, depicting the early life and struggles of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma.        The heart of the story lies in Manoj Kumar Sharma's journey of self-discovery and moral awakening. Initially, he is immersed in cheating, driven by the environment of his village. However, this was disrupted by the arrival of DSP Dushyant Singh, bringing Manoj a chance to reevaluate his values and aspirations. Through police officer's integrity and courage, Manoj finds a new role model. Also his father's struggle in the high court against corruption, for which he had left home, helps him understand the need for change in the country. He begins to aspire towards a path of honesty, ultimately leading him to pursue a career in law enforcement despite facing unexpected challenges.        This movie not ...

Feline Insights?

Image
Hey! So today I'm gonna rant about my day in the college. Basically I went to sleep at 3:00 am for which I rolled in my cot till 9:00, missing my first hour class. When I was rushing for my second hour class my phone vibrated. It was my dear stupid friend who also missed her first hour class and was waiting for me, so that we could go to class together. Unfortunately, the next two classes were not conducted as scheduled. We still held onto hope that we would have our fourth hour class, making it worthwhile to come to college for at least one hour of attendance. And thank almighty we had our class.         It was a Part II English class and our professor was handling the essay "Sermons in Cats" written by Aldous Huxley. The author explores the philosophical significance of cats...maybe spiritual too. He delves into the nature of cats, their behavior, and their relationship with humans, drawing parallels with religious and existential themes. ...
